This is a tremendous opportunity for current undergraduate students to share their experiences, advice, and RUTGERS PRIDE with our new and continuing students at the beginning of the Fall/Spring Semesters through Welcome Week. Welcome Week Intern Position Description PDF, Welcome Week Interns (Applications for the 2026-2027 academic year OPEN LATE FEBRUARY) work with the Welcome Week Planning Committee to implement first-year and transfer initiatives during the summer (New Student Orientation) and fall/spring (Welcome Week), supervise welcome week ambassadors, perform office/logistic duties, and promote transition focused opportunities/resources.

Timeline - Welcome Week Interns
  • Application: will be available February 15th, 2026. Applications are due March 1st, 2026
  • Individual Interviews: March 23rd-April 1st, 2026
    • Welcome Week Interns: Select applicants will be invited to participate in the individual interview process. Applicants will have the opportunity to select a 30 minute interview that will be conducted with at least 2 staff members. 
Who can apply for the Welcome Week Intern position?
  • GPA: Must currently have and continue to maintain by the end of Fall 2026 a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Applicants must not be on student conduct probation or have any active sanctions with the University
  • Be enrolled as a matriculating undergraduate student at Rutgers University-New Brunswick for the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Must be available for ALL summer/spring trainings, summer orientation sessions, and Welcome Week (Fall/Spring)
  • No summer classes or other summer jobs (unless approved by a professional staff supervisor)
    • If you are considering taking courses, please meet with a professional staff member to discuss this further.
  • International students must currently have a VISA and Workers Permit that allows them to work in the US. Able to work 40 hours per week over the summer.
Compensation and Benefits for Welcome Week Interns
  • Pay: Minimum $15.92/hour (pre-tax), to be paid out bi-weekly
  • Housing Accommodation: Summer Housing: single bedroom, shared apartment on campus from May 30 - August 13, 2026; Summer Parking Pass
  • Personal and professional development: You will have the opportunity to develop essential career competencies sought out by employers for internships and post-graduation positions.

Welcome Week Ambassador Position Description PDF, Welcome Week Ambassadors (Applications for the 2026-2027 academic year OPEN AFTER SPRING BREAK) serve as connectors and guides for incoming students at Rutgers during Welcome Week. Their responsibilities include supporting large and small scale opportunities during Welcome Week, operational and logistical tasks, and answering questions/providing advice for new students. 

Timeline - Welcome Week Ambassadors
  • Fall
    • Application: will be available March 23rd, 2026. Applications are due April 15, 2026
    • Training: August 24th, 2026 from 7-9PM
    • Welcome Week: work approximately 3-5 events/opportunities during August 25th-September 12th, 2026
  • Spring
    • Application: will be available November 1st, 2026. Applications are due December 1st, 2026.
    • Training: January 14th, 2027 from 7-9PM
    • Welcome Week: work approximately 3-5 events/opportunities during January 19th-31st, 2027

  • Be enrolled as a matriculating undergraduate student at Rutgers University-New
    Brunswick for the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Must be available for Welcome Week Ambassador training (Fall/Spring) and Welcome
    Week (Fall/Spring)
Compensation and Benefits for Welcome Week Ambassadors
  • Pay: Minimum $15 gift card for each shift you work
  • Move In early to your Residence Hall

  • Staff uniforms will be provided: Welcome Week Staff T-shirt
